FIRST GIVEAWAY!

The wonderful people at Hallmark

have graciously offered a superb product

for you to enjoy in your family

for generations.

Have you seen the

Hallmark Recordable Storybooks?

Here are some ways you can use these books:

  1. If you are going on a work trip or vacation without your children, record your voice reading this story.  They can listen to you while you are away…keep you close to them even though you are not present.  This would be especially meaningful for parents who are in the military and are gone for a long time.  I was able to do this before I went to my last blog conference.  My Husband texted me while I was gone saying how our youngest listened to the book every night before she went to bed.
  2. Have a grandparent or extended family member record their voice reading the story.  How special it will be for that child to have a recording of their Grandparents reading them a book.  They can pull it out any time they want to hear them.  My children only have one great grandparent who hasn’t passed on.  Oh how I wish I could have had these books recorded with their voice before they passed away.  I, personally, would treasure them and listen to them too!  They instantly become priceless when they have someones voice who is no longer with us.
  3. This next idea is what we did with this book.  My second grader has just become mastering her reading.  We both sat down with the book.  I took out the battery so we could just read it like a normal story book.  I read her the book first and then she read it next.  Some of the words were a little difficult for her, so I helped her and she practiced until she felt comfortable reading it.  {Shhhhhh….don’t tell them that this exercise helps them learn to read 😉 …hint hint}  Since I had read/recorded my voice in the other book I gave her, she had trouble understanding why I wanted her to be the one recording the book.  I explained to her how special it will be to her {and to us} to have her sweet 7 year old voice for us to listen to when she is grown.  Not only that, we can bring it out for her own children to listen and enjoy in the future.  How fun would it be for her own 7 year old daughter to hear her Mom’s voice when she was 7!!!  Again…priceless!!
  4. The next time my family from Holland are here I want them to record their voice reading one of these books.  If you have family who live far away, this is perfect to have them feel closer to you!
  5. When you are pregnant, you could record yourself reading this to your baby.  Then you can play it for them after they are born.  As they grow and get older you can share how you recorded this for them when they were still inside you.  Ahhhhhh :)

So you really want one now, don’t you?! I don’t blame you.  Hallmark is genius for coming up with these! There are many titles to choose from, however, Hallmark will be sending one lucky winner Bright & Beautiful, A Child’s Blessing.  The text of this book is based on the Hymn by Cecil Frances Alexander.

You will receive a chance to win when you complete the following tasks.  For each task you complete you will gain another entry into the contest.  This means if you complete all 4 tasks your name will go into the drawing 4 times.

  • Go to the Hallmark website here and click on SEE ALL.  This will show you all the recordable storybook titles to choose from.  Pick another one of these books that you think you would like.  Come back here and comment on which one and why.  Can’t wait to see all your ideas!
  • Write about this contest on Facebook or Twitter linking back to here.  All you do is add this link to your post: www.familybringsjoy.com
  • Write about this contest on your blog linking back to here.

The winner will be chosen by Random.org and I will announce the winner on Thursday, March 10th.  The contest will close at midnight on March 10th.

Disclaimer: Hallmark offered to give me 2 of these Recordable Storybooks.  They gave me one to use/show here & one for the winner.  I was happy to feature a product I believe so strongly will help families create unity and joy.  I will only feature products that will help families.  No other compensation was given.

Good Luck,

  1. I want to enter the Hallmark contest and I would like to get the book: Guess how much I Love You. I would want to record it for my grandchildren to try to let them know how much they are loved. I also want them to remember my voice when I am no longer here. It would be a true Joy to win this or any of the recordable books for me to create a family memory. Thank you for letting me enter. Cheryl Beaty

  2. Rebecca Aultman says:

I would like to enter also. We are awaiting our call to serve the Lord on a two year mission. During this time we will be away from our Grandchildren for two years. We lost a son two years ago and are very close to his 4 year old son. Our ‘special’ time together is spent reading his favorite books. I would like to keep up this tradition while we are gone with this type of book.

  3. I would choose Goodnight Moon! We love that story at our house, and just about every other Margaret Wise Brown book!

  6. Gillian Bliss says:

I love you Grandma would be my book of choice. My hubby and i had discussed these books after a friend had bought one for her daughter. Our idea was to have my husband who has a wonderful deep voice record the book for his Grandma who is 96 and in poor health. She wouldn’t be able to see the book herself but would get lots of joy from hearing his voice.

  7. Gillian Bliss says:

    I tweeted this at Blissmum.
    gillian@gillianbliss.com

  8. I would choose ‘All the Wayys I love you” because I love teling my boys the many ways I love them! I have tweeted your giveaway.

  9. I would choose Guess How Much I Love You. This is one of my special books with Claire that I have read to her since she was born.

  10. I added your button to my blog

  11. I would chose the book Curious You On Your Way for two main reasons. One my son LOVES Curious George and it is an amazing book that is written in such simple terms, but has an amazing message about life in general and never to give up even when things don’t go as planned. A message for children and adults. Thanks for having this contest!

  12. I would LOVE to have Guess How Much I Love You! That is also a special book in our family – especially with Asher. We always talk about loving each other “thiiiiiis much”. It would be really special for Beau and I to record our voices reading it (maybe alternate pages or something), so the kids could listen to it when we are away. We may just have to buy that! :) This is fun, Shannon. Thanks for doing this!

  13. I posted on facebook too.

  14. Ok. I also posted on my blog and added your button. I hope I win. :)

  15. Too many cute ones to choose from. Thank you God for everything, My little Princess, On the night you were born, Curious You On your Way….Hmmmmm, I think I’d choose On the Night You Were Born. However I’d need 3 copies, one for each child. I think it’s precious to let each child know how special it was the day they were born.

    Thanks, Shannon!

  16. Hilarie Maxfield says:

I would choose Curious You On Your Way. First, he’s my little monkey and has a ton of curiousity. Secondly, I always choose empowering books for my kiddo. It’s important in life to keep your curiousity and always feel empowered. I want him to have this message as my legacy.

    • Melissa, Guess How Much I Love You is very precious! It is my daughter’s favorite as well. It was the first Recordable Storybook I gave her with my voice on it. I know your granddaughter would LOVE to have one of these books with your voice reading the story. It will be extra special since you do live so far apart. I have a link on my sidebar with this particular book. Look under the Things I Love tab and when you see the book in the slide, click on it and it will take you to Amazon.com, where you can purchase it. Amazon is good at getting things out to you quickly. You can also always go to Hallmark.com as well, link in post above. Thank you for sharing your idea. Come back and tell me how she liked the book, please. :)

  18. GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU was one of my son’s favorite as a toddler. We wore that book out. I just learned this weekend that I’m going to have new niece or nephew and am thinking this would be a wonderful shower gift.

    • I completely agree! A wonderful shower gift! I plan on giving many as gifts for all sorts of occasions and ages. Congratulations on your new niece or nephew. :) Glad you came by!

    • Lori, I really appreciate you writing about this post on Facebook. Unfortunately, the giveaway has already ended. I was completely stunned, but very happy, to have the wonderful people from Hallmark feature this post on their Facebook page. I think they were highlighting some of the creative ways to use the Recordable Storybook. So good to meet you, Lori :)
