Easter Decorated Mantel

I love how the white POPS

Out of all the rooms in our house, we are in the living room the most.  I enjoy changing the mantel for the seasons.  Everything I used I already had in my home somewhere.  Thanks to the Nester, I have learned to shop at home.  The newest item is the white votive tree.  I won it at a silent auction last month at a school fundraiser.  I decided to put eggs in mine.

Reason for the season

I cut a piece of burlap to make the bow for my chalkboard.  I used a frilly plate {I got at my swap party} to add to the candle holder to make a pedestal of sorts for the Jesus & Children figurine{I made that at church many years ago, was in my playroom}.

Book Paper Egg Wreath

I fell in love with decorating with book paper last year.  I found Erin at Lemon Tree Creations who inspired me to make my own book page egg wreath.  I began mine last year before Easter, but ran out of the size of eggs I was using.  I had to wait until Easter rolled around again to find the smaller size eggs to finish my project.  Finally finished it.  After looking at Erin’s again, I think I need to add more eggs to mine.  I like the fuller look.  The dollar store didn’t have the foam wreaths in stock when I decided to make mine.  All they had were small willow wreaths, so I used it.  I just decoupaged it with book paper before hot gluing the eggs. Guess what book I used pages from?

Right Side with Kids Portrait {taken several years ago}

My kids are much older now, but I really like the pastel blues used in this photo. {Who says you can’t have out-dated photos displayed? rhetorical question}  I love seeing the innocence in this shot.

I would love to see your Spring or Easter Mantel.  If you have a post featuring yours share it here by linking below.  Thanks for coming by!

  1. Your mantle looks so beautiful!! And I think the wreath turned out perfectly! The dollar store didn’t have any wreath forms when I was doing mine so I just used a planter, I wonder sometimes if it’s too crowded. Yours is so lovely, glad you were able to get more eggs and finish!

Hope you’ll link up a picture of your wreath to our Flickr page, we highlight those projects periodically and I’d love to be able to show yours off!

    Have a great week!! :)

    • Erin, so glad you stopped by to see how mine turned out. You made my day! Your too funny! I don’t think your wreath looks crowded at all! I will add a pic or two to Flickr. Thank you so much!

  2. Nice reaction from Erin about your wreath! It is amazing. I would not have known what it was made from. Very impressed with your continued creativity and craftsmanship (craftwomanship, I should say) As usual the mantel looks gorgeous! You should be an interior decorator.

  3. So no Easter decorating here… or Valentines, St Patricks, Fourth of July, etc etc etc. BUT we did make Resurrection eggs a few years ago and use them with our hunt on Easter Sunday. Some people use them like an advent counting down 12 days to Easter and open one egg and do a family devotion each day. We hide them with all the other eggs and then at the Easter meal we go around the table opening each egg and reading the corresponding bible verse to the symbolic item in the egg. Truly, the fact He Rose is why we are Christian, not just that He was born (Christmas). Wish Easter was celebrated in a more important way to reflect the fact we serve a Risen God who redeemed us and lives today. Praise the Lord! I can make you a copy of the verse sheet we used and items to put in the eggs if you like. And yes, your mantle is beautiful—mine is pretty when I remember to dust it :)

    • Monica, We have done the eggs with a scripture in them as well. There is also objects you can put in them as well that go with the scriptures. {ie. nail} I agree that Easter is very important for Christians. What a great idea to go around the table at your Easter meal and read the scriptures. Helps to reinforce to your children the reason for the season. Dusting does help, doesn’t it! Good thing my dust didn’t show up in my photos. 😉

  4. So cute. Very tasteful decorating!

  5. Love your mantel. Looks fab with the egg wreath hangning from the open picture frame. And what a cool @ sign. Very unique. I will be posting my mantel later this evening so I’ll be sure to link up. Visiting from CG.

  7. I think your egg wreath turned out well! I found your link from Lemon Tree’s because I was attempting to try to make an egg wreath today. I clicked on yours for inspiration to know that someone else made it too. I was surprised how long it took me to wrap and mod podge the eggs. Anyway, yours looks lovely and your blog looks fun!

    • It did take a while to make mine as well. I didn’t do it all in one day, though. You are super woman! I took several days {an hour or 2 a day} to work on it. Do you have a photo of yours? I would love to see it. So glad you stopped by. It is always helpful to know you are not alone. 😀 Glad you persevered and can’t wait to see it, Michelle.
