Now that school is in full swing for most of us, I wanted to remind everyone of the usefulness of listening to audiobooks. Just within the past week and a half I have already read/listened to two excellent books:
- While doing laundry.
- While doing dishes.
- While doing a craft.
- While driving in the car.
- While cooking.
That is what I LOVE about audio books! I can listen while I am able to DO other things. It makes the monotonous chores or activities I do each day way more FUN!
Other ways audiobooks can be helpful:
- Home School
- Kids can listen to their assigned school books. Listening to the narrator read a book can be entertaining. They also pronounce words {the kids may not know how to pronounce} correctly.
- Have your husband listen to a parenting book in his car. He might not have the time to read the book, otherwise. Parents need to be on the same ‘page’ when it comes to discipline etc.
- Preschoolers can listen to a book at bedtime. Great bedtime ritual.
Back to the 2 books…if you like The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, you will love Divergent by Veronica Roth (Young Adult Fantasy.) Nightshade by Andrea Cremer is the first in a fantasy or paranormal series (Young Adult) about werewolves. I am horrible at giving book reviews. It’s kind of like me retelling jokes, I can’t. When it comes to books I’m always too afraid of giving something away or spoiling something for the reader. However, I CAN say that I did not want to stop reading/listening to these 2 books. I looked forward to doing chores or driving in the car so I could see what would happen next. I LOVE books like this! I’m currently listening to the second Nightshade book, Wolfsbane (again by Andrea Cremer.)
I wrote another post about the advantages to listening to audio books here.
My favorite way to download audiobooks is through Audible.com. They are very affordable. I use their app on my iPhone to plug into my car…easy as pie! Try it today! You won’t be sorry. 😉
Audiobooks bring joy,
Hmm… I’ve got to try audiobooks some time. I love reading, and when Kindle first came out, I thought it was a gift to mankind! Hahaha. But I don’t know why, somehow until now I have not tried listening to audiobooks yet. Sounds like a good idea!
