Take time to RELAX

Relaxation

I am a firm believer in taking some time to relax.  For me, relaxation is part of a balanced day.  However, some days don’t allow for me to relax until I snuggle into bed {definitely not a balanced day.}  If I’ve had a few of the go go go days, then as soon as I get a chance, I stop and do something that allows me to take a breather.  This is exactly what I did today.  I filled up my tub, lit a candle and let the bubbles “take me away.”  I am extremely grateful for my tub.  I like to think of it as my water therapy.  Remember, you need to take care of yourself. This is especially important if you are taking care of others.  As a Mom, it is important to recharge my batteries, so in turn, I can be the best Mom I can be for my kids.  I think it is also important for your kids to know you do these sorts of things.  You are a role model.  If they don’t see you take time for yourself {or hear about it, seeing as I usually take my baths when they are at school so I know I won’t be interrupted} then they won’t do it.  Depending on where you are in your life, sometimes taking just 5 minutes will be all you can do.  I remember those days when my kids were younger.  I hope you are taking time for yourself.

No Calgon, just water 😉

There are many other things you can do to relax.

  1. Read a book
  2. Watch a movie, or television show
  3. Take a nap
  4. Get a massage
  5. Get a pedicure or manicure

What do you like to do to relax?

  1. Yoga helps me to relax, especially at the end of the session. It is relaxing to me to watch the wildbirds at our bird feeder and bathe in the bird bath. Going outside and looking at the sky and nature, the plants and trees is also relaxing. Crochet is relaxing most of the time unless I can’t understand a pattern. One of my all time favorites is soaking in a hot tub of water. This has always been my escape place. Shannon, I am afraid you didn’t see me relaxing very much when you were growing up. I have learned better how to take care of myself in my later years, but then, I have more time to do it too.

    • Remember the yoga class we took together? Yoga doesn’t seem to relax me much anymore. Instead, I end up very sore afterward. I do remember you liking to soak in the bath tub as well. Probably one of the reasons I like it. We also used to go to the movies together quite often. I think you underestimate your role model skills, Mom. 😉
