Mudroom Artwork

Keeping Calm in my Mudroom

The Keep Calm and Carry on Artwork has become very popular. I used to teach Sunday School at church. {I miss it.}  One Sunday I was highlighting some Hymns that went along with the lesson.  I came across this awesome website and decided to make posters with the name of the Hymns for the lesson.  Afterward, I decided {I liked them so much} I wanted to use them as decor in my home.

Used wall velcro stickers to hang

I needed something in my mudroom

and realized I had the perfect number to fill the space on the wall.

{sorry for glare}

Every day as we come & go from this room we are reminded of these calming Hymns.

Sometimes seeing one automatically makes me begin to sing.

Close up

By the way, I bought the 8 1/2 x 11 frames at the dollar store.

I took my sanding block and sanded the edges a little to give it that rustic look.

Opposite wall with our lockers

I love being able to not spend a lot of money to decorate.

WIN/WIN  Talk about bringing JOY!  😉

Comments

  1. The wall looks great, Shannon!

    • Did you see them the last time you were here? It’s been up a while. Just finally getting around to writing about them. Thank you.

  2. This is so creative! I’m definitely going to visit this site and try this! Also, I have a similiar mudroom/laundry room combo to this room in your photos. I’d love to get ideas from you on organizing the built ins.. I currently do not use the tallest cabinets. (if you want to share). :)

  3. Oh, I LOVE those! I have their website open in another tab right now. :) Goodness, it looks like you live in a gorgeous home. I would love to have the space for lockers and such. *sigh*

    • Amy, I am very grateful for our home. Over the years we talked about building our “dream” home. We worked diligently to get out of credit card debt so we could build it. In June it will be two years since we moved in. The custom building process was one of the most difficult experiences {took a year} I have ever gone through. However, going through the stress makes me appreciate my home even more. A mudroom was a total must in my floor plan. I was so tired of tripping over shoes and backpacks coming in the door. We each have one. Notice I didn’t show you the inside of the lockers…they are a mess…which is exactly why I put doors on them. 😉 I love your cute avatar!

  4. genius!
    i tell you… genius!
    love this SO much!
one of these days… thank you Lord… when we get in our home… would love to be a copy cat! :O)

    thanks for sharing your fun!

    your home looks DREAMY!!!!!!!
so need to pick your brain! :O)

    • Awww, Carissa. You are too sweet! My kids get tired of hearing me saying this to them, “Work smarter, not harder.” I’m all about not reinventing the wheel. Seriously! If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. 😉 {Don’t get me wrong, though. I always want to give credit where credit is due.} You kind of crack me up about my house being Dreamy because all you see here is a very small hallway, basically. The only reason I call it a Mudroom is because it has the lockers. Whenever you get ready to help with your home, let me know. I’ll let you pick my brain. lol Maybe we could exchange for you teaching me how to take better photos…deal? Thanks for coming by and gracing us with your wonderful presence.

  5. What an awesome idea!! I always like those Keep Calm posters, but I LOVE the verses!

    • Thank you Kelleigh! I love how you spell your name. The website is really easy to use. I appreciate you taking time to write me a comment. Hope to see you again in the future!

  6. Stopping by from Tip Tuesday. What a GREAT idea. I love the signs, absolutely darling. I’m jealous of those lockers, thinking how much stuff I could pack out of sight in them!

    • LOL, Christi, the key phrase here being “out of sight.” 😉 Thanks for your sweet comment. Can’t wait to check your site out just from the title. Thanks for coming by!

  7. This is such a great idea!! I love the idea of doing this with verses or hymns – what great reminders to have hung around the house! I also noticed the colors you used for the prints – very nice! 😉 I will have to check out the website you gave. :)

    • Valerie, I chose the colors because it’s pretty neutral in there as it is. I needed some color! They are wonderful reminders for my family. Thank you for visiting :)

  8. I love how you put hymn words in your mud room! Thanks for sharing!

ps. What a great idea to use hymns. Creative and cute. I just found a “Keep Calm and Carry On” wrapping paper for $4 which I framed for my laundry room.

  11. love, love, love the creativity!!! Such a great reminder as you walk by that wall… love it!

  12. I love this idea and I have some empty frames to use…now to find an empty wall. (:

    • Andrew, what a pleasant surprise to find your comment! I am somewhat amazed, but grateful, for the outpouring of visitors for this post. I hope you have received a huge number of guests from it. The website is genius! Now if only you will make one just like it for silhouettes and the Peace, Love and {whatever someone wants to add here} I would be ecstatic! I appreciate your talents tremendously. Thank you for stopping by and leaving me a note. 😀

  16. Thank you so much for your kind comment! That means so much to me as a new blogger. I’m so glad I clicked over to your site…LOVE your hymn posters! I have an empty frame over my laundry sink that I’ve wanted just the right graphic in, and I think I just hit the jackpot! Your work is lovely. Can’t wait to see more.

    • Jennifer, you are very welcome! I pinned your laundry room today as well. It is really amazing! I think you will be receiving lots of blog love or good feedback today from Roomspiration. I saw that empty frame, but thought you wanted it that way. I have empty frames up for design. However, I believe the keep calm artwork would look perfect there! I am very happy to have met you. It’s so fun to make new friends. Readers: click on Jennifer’s name above to see her awesome laundry room. 😉

  17. Hi! Loved your post today!! I just wrote a post, hightlighting your blog and showing the “calm-o-matic” site, as well. Love it!! Check out my site, too, for this post on the 12th. Thanks!

    • Thank you for stopping by Lauren! Enjoyed your Mudroom Closet Makeover and can’t wait to see your post on the 12th. I am honored you are featuring Family Brings Joy.

  18. Such a nice space! I also love the lockers, and you CAN tell that your home is beautiful just from the hall photo. Classic beautiful architecture. I like hanging with velcro also, I tend to be wishy-washy and feel better about not putting holes all over the walls.

    • Dusty, what a very sweet comment. Sometimes frames hang better with the velcro than the nails. When I use nails they tend to end up crooked, which can be annoying. It is nice to not have all the holes as well. 😉 Thank you for visiting. I enjoyed your bedroom post very much!!

  19. Great prints and great mudroom!!

  20. What a great idea Shan! The wall you chose is perfect and I love the cabinetry on the right side of your mudroom…terrific storage.

    Thanks for linking up yesterday!

  1. […] Mudroom ArtworkI never in a million years thought this post would receive the kind of attention it has.  I quickly put the post together one Saturday morning.  Out of the majority of the posts I have written, I spent the least amount of time putting it together.  It is very simple and inexpensive, yet the artwork continues to make a gigantic impact every day I look at them. {39 generous comments} […]
