Inspiration for Moms

I am an avid user of Instagram.  I love connecting with people through photographs.

Yesterday, I ran across one of Stephanie Nielson’s Instagram photos.  {If you don’t know who she is watch the video below.}

Anyway, I noticed some of the comments written under her photo.  Many people were referring to her blog post on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.  I made a mental note to go check out her post later.  This morning I woke up thinking about her and reading that post.  Now, after doing a load of laundry, doing a wii dance workout with my youngest, showering, having lunch and making my bed…I was in the middle of making my bed when I was reminded of visiting her site to see what happened.

With tears streaming down my face I share with you this video.  Stephanie is my hero.

I just ordered Heaven Is Here: An Incredible Story of Hope, Triumph, and Everyday Joy and look forward to the spiritual strength Stephanie exudes.

Disclaimer: I am sharing this because Stephanie inspires me, not because she or anyone paid me to write this.  Just to make that clear. 😉

SIMPLE Way to Organize Halloween Photos

I’m happy to share with you a simple and great way to keep your Halloween photos organized!

By the way, I’ve had my album for about 7 years!  As you can see, it is archival quality and made to last for many years.  I am grateful for how beautiful and timeless it looks.

If you would like one for your own family, click here.  But wait! {I sound like an infomercial, sorry!}  Once you click and are directed to the main Once Upon A Family page, click on “Halloween” under the heading “By Holiday” and you will see the Halloween Silk Photo Album to click on.  I don’t think they have raised the price of this lovely album since I purchased mine.

What are your children going to be for Halloween this year?

My 8 year old is going to be a Bumble Bee.  My 16 year old is going to be {regrettably} a Gangster.  {At least it’s just a costume.}  And my 13 year old decided he doesn’t need to dress up anymore!  Woo Hoo!!! 😉

Gotta love those costume photos,

Easy Flour Tortillas at Home

How to make homemade tasting flour tortillas at home!

Hope you enjoy my first vlog ever!

I am not promoting the brand mentioned in the video. (I was not paid to write this post)  It is the only brand of ready to cook tortillas where I live.  Just look for ones that say ready to cook on the package.  I have to thank my close friend Sheri {Thank you!} for introducing me to ready to cook flour tortillas.  A couple of years ago while visiting her she made these for me.  I will never go back to buying the ones already made {that go stale if you don’t eat them right away.}

  • I found the ready to cook tortillas used in the video in the refrigerated section by the cream cheese.  You might want to ask a store rep where they keep them at your local store.
  • If your grocery store doesn’t have any ready to cook tortillas, request them; and if they want your business, they will order them. 🙂
    • You don’t have to use an electric skillet.  You can use a pan on the stove as well.  I like that I can cook more than one at a time on the electric skillet.

Change A Life

I didn’t plan it this way, but it’s turned out to be video week here on Family Brings Joy.
I just attended a webinar for Box Tops for Education.  I am the box tops coordinator for my second grader’s school.  I learned about this awesome program called Win One, Give One which benefits children in Africa and my child’s school as well.
Every time the video gets 100 views in a day, another laptop will be sent to a child in Africa.  Box Tops will also give my child’s school 5 bonus box tops.  This money is very valuable in my own child’s education.
All you have to do is watch a minute long video and you will change a life.  How easy is that?!
watch a video. give a laptop. change a life
